MySQL server_id and binary log replication

Earlier I have heared that the MySQL server_id must be the same on all Galera nodes (when binary logs are enabled and used). Is this still true?

server_id and Galera
According to Codership server_id is not used for Galera Cluster operations. So it can be any. But for all practical purposes, e.g. native replication, you want it to be the same on all Galera Cluster nodes.
